He's got to face Lava Lord, master of the underworld and keeper of Skull Mountain. Lava Lord is part of the second wave of Shrunken Heads. However, Skullmaster then used his Crystal of Souls to force Magus and Lava Lord back underground. Lava Lord used Magus to attack Skullmaster at Stone Henge, where Skullmaster used his powers to call up Fuath who though he put up a fight was ultimately shattered by Magus. Although Lava Lord is furious at Max for destroying Magus before (which had since been rebuilt), he hated Skullmaster more and agreed to help Max. In the series finale Max goes to Lava Lord for help against Skullmaster as Norman is dead and Virgil's been captured. With this, Lava Lord develops a grudge against Max for destroying his prized creation. Ultimately they abandoned the robot, which went over a lavafall. With tactical advice from Virgil, however, Skullmaster's troops managed to knock Lava Lord out of Magus and Max and Norman hijacked it. Seeing Max, he agrees to join forces with Max since Skullmaster fears him, however he obviously only sees Max as a worm and just a figurehead ally. The Lava Beasts formerly under Skullmaster's control as slaves returned to Lava Lord and helped him build an ultimate weapon to get his revenge on Skullmaster, the giant robot Magus. ![]() When Max destroyed the Crystal of Souls in The Maxnificent Seven, the spell containing Lava Lord was broken and he was freed. Lava Lord was originally the ruler of Skull Mountain before Skullmaster overthrew him and imprisoned him in stone. Lava Lord later returned with an upgraded version of a Lava Beast. Lava Lord then used his creation, Magus, in an attempt to capture Mighty Max and steal the Cosmic Cap. To go along with this line, sets such as the Horror Heads, Monster Heads, Dread Heads, and Shrunken Heads were produced. Rattus has been one of the most difficult playsets to collect, the most expensive I’ve added to my collection, but it comes fully equipped with two villains, a. Released among some of my favourite sets like Grips the Hand, Bytes Cyberskull and Sinks Nautilus. These were the most popular of all the 'head' toys from the franchise. Check out the Horror Head Review Marathon In my own Mighty Max collection, the Horror Heads are extremely nostalgic and as a kid, a lot more accessible than the Doom Zones were. Each of the Horror Heads comes complete with a Mighty Max figure, an enemy and sometimes a third piece. The Horror Heads are smaller than the Doom Zones. For any kid raised in the 90’s, they’re incredibly nostalgic toys and I’ve had a lot of fun pulling my sets apart and talking about what made them so special. I’ve been reviewing a large range of my own Mighty Max sets. Mighty Max would later be joined by Virgil and Norman in the TV Series to guide him and provide extra muscle. Mighty Max’s hat would warp him to each location to defeat a world-threatening villain and we would see the fight unfold. Each of the sets was based on a certain horror theme and created the inspiration for the Mighty Max TV series.Įach of the play sets also included a brief comic book story on the back of the card.
